Nick Millican Says COVID Forced Work From Home Changes
In the wake of COVID-19, real estate guru and CEO Nick Millican says businesses need to rethink plans of coming back to the office. According to the real estate expert, many things have changed and the protocols we used pre-COVID aren’t necessarily what we can expect now that the epidemic has seemingly slowed down considerably.
“Things are not going to go back to where they were. If companies are going to make their staff report 45 minutes from home they need to give them a very good reason for having to go there,” says Nick Millican.
The overwhelming number of companies that had an off-site workforce were affected in some way by COVID. Once it hit, a number of businesses opted for their employees to stay at home. As Nick Millican notes, remote work became vital for businesses to remain viable and functional.
Zoom conferences became the norm. Printouts were replaced with cloud tools. Once the COVID restrictions were lifted, some people went back to the office. However, things had changed, as real estate expert Nick Millican confirms. A number of workers had gotten used to staying at home because of the convenience.
In the U.K. where Millican resides, he realized that many workers were working at offices with less than desirable conditions. He found that better accommodations made workers more receptive to going back to the office. Nick Millican insists that if businesses want to keep employees satisfied and engaged, attractive designs and healthy environments will do it.
