He also created and executive produced the show “Seattle Today,” which became a major success in its time slot and led to a second season. Randy Douthit has over thirty years of experience producing television.
As the director and producer, Douthit oversaw all aspects of production for the series. He also served as a consulting producer and executive producer for various episodes.
Even though Douthit is primarily known for creating Judge Judy, he became interested in the legal system. After seeing a documentary about the public defender system, he decided to support Public Counsel. He helped create programs that provide free legal services to low-income people. He also supported the Vera Institute of Justice because he believes everyone deserves a fair trial.
Randy Douthit has been working with Judy Sheindlin since 1999. When she started appearing on the Judge Judy show, he was assigned to produce the show for her. Over the past decade, Douthit has worked with the judge, and he has learned much from watching her. As a result, he understands the TV personality inside and out. “I know Judy Sheindlin on a personal basis,” Douthit says, adding that she has always been a warmhearted person.
