Ross Levinsohn is the current CEO of The Arena Group and Sports Illustrated Media. He has spent his profession immersed in the world of sports. After getting his bachelor’s degree in economics from a higher learning institute in the U.S., Ross served at various sports firms and organizations. In 2014, Ross joined Yahoo as the firm’s chief marketing officer. He worked directly with the CEO and CMO of the firm and led numerous initiatives that set the stage for Yahoo’s future. After serving for some years, Ross became Chief Media Officer at Oath, a subsidiary of Verizon. He also serves as a board associate for several high-profile organizations.
The Sports Illustrated CEO has spent his entire career in the sports business. He began as a part-time statistician for the Phoenix Suns and worked his way up to become their vice president of marketing. Ross then worked at a sports marketing agency in LA and became the president and general manager of the San Jose Sharks. After that, he became the LA Times sports section’s CEO and, before joining Yahoo as their chief marketing officer. During this period, Verizon acquired Yahoo, and Ross was brought on as the firm’s chief media officer.
The Sports Illustrated CEO worked with Steve Ballmer at the Los Angeles Clippers in the sports world. While Steve has moved on to be executive chair of Microsoft, he still runs the Clippers. Ross also mentions Brian France, the CEO of NASCAR. Brian has used NASCAR’s core strength to grow the sport and build a huge brand. Ross Levinsohn sees significant potential in sports media given its strong following, immersive format, and ability to transcend local markets and reach a national audience. Sports Illustrated has introduced a service where consumers can subscribe to access unlimited content from the organization. The subscription includes premium stores, videos, podcasts, photos, a personalized newsletter, audio versions of selected stories, and the publication’s digital archive.
