Ben Roethlisberger Foundation Helping Infants, Homeless in Pittsburg

Football legend and two-time Super Bowl winner Ben Roethlisberger is retired from the game, but today he continues to charge down the field to help families and babies.

Through his recently established Ben Roethlisberger Foundation, the former NFL quarterback is supporting an effort to provide better treatment for infants with jaundice. The latter is the No. 1 reason infants are readmitted to hospitals.

The Foundation is supporting a project called NeoLight. This organization provides phototherapy lights, a treatment for jaundice, free of charge so that babies can receive that kind of treatment at home. This means a mother and child can avoid costly hospital stays while they remain in the comfort of their homes.

Ben Roethlisberger retired from the NFL after 18 remarkable seasons. He won just about every major offensive award during his run. That included NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, six Pro Bowl selections and winning the best passer rating four times, the latter tied for the most ever by a single player.

Roethlisberger is a native of Ohio. Born in Lima and growing up in Findlay, he started his athletic career as a star player on the Findlay High School football, basketball and baseball teams. He served as captain for each one.

After a records-shattering football college career at Miami University of Ohio, Ben was drafted into the major leagues by the Pittsburg Steelers as an 11th pick in the first round.

But today, Ben Roethlisberger is focusing on the family. He and his wife, Ashley, are working on numerous projects to assist and strengthen the basic family unit which the Roethlisberger believe is the most important fundamental element of American culture and society.

Another project for Ben is teaming up with singer Micah Tyler to help the Light of Life Mission provide meals for homeless people in Pittsburg. See this page to learn more.
