Athlo is an app focused on the fitness industry. It has been immensely successful in growing its platform by partnering with significant fitness brands such as Nike, Adidas, and the NBA.

Athlo Founder Matthew Mansell is passionate about building tech companies and trying to help the fitness industry grow.

This user-generated app uses social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to create a community for people who want to lose weight, maintain weight, or address health concerns.

It is set to be the next fitness unicorn. It has recently achieved widespread success after partnering with the NFL and launching its new Athlo MVP campaign, which they have successfully completed with more than 1 million users.

Their recent round of funding was with Bessemer and included the usual investor suspects (Benchmark, GGV Capital) and notable names (Alibaba, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., Jim Breyer). The $1.2 billion valuation is up from their Series B round, where they were valued at $800 million.

This has been a massive jump from their Series A round, where they were valued at $600 million.

The chart below shows their growth and the valuation of the company with each round of funding:

The growth of Athlo in the valuation is a reflection of two important things. The first is the growth in users, and the second is that these companies are getting several rounds of funding, each raising more than previous ones. In essence, investors believe these companies are worth more every time they raise capital.

The recent round of funding was conducted after Athlo completed their MVP. All their key features are operational and have been tested with users. They have a lot more money now and can accomplish many more things in the coming months and years.

Their platforms in the US, UK, and China are fully operational. Their mobile apps for iOS, Android, and Windows phones have been downloaded by over 20 million users in the US alone.
