Doug Haynes, a Business Mogul and a Philanthropist

DoughThe company, Council Advisors, is led by Doug Haynes. He’s spent his entire career advising top leaders in both the public and private sectors.

Before joining Council Advisors, Doug was the president of Point72 Asset Management, one of the most successful equity hedge funds in the United States. Doug was a McKinsey & Company Senior Partner.

He oversaw the Northeast and the Global Operations practice. Doug was in charge of McKinsey’s High-Tech and technology-based service practices. Doug oversaw McKinsey’s financial services practice.

Before earning his MBA, Doug worked as an engineer for GE’s Plastics Business Group and as a software developer for the CIA.

Doug’s charitable work focuses on increasing college access, assisting veterans, and reducing poverty. He founded the corporations CGE, CNVN, and CVB. He serves on the Camp Southern Ground and the Robin Hood Foundation boards to give back to his community.

Doug Haynes received a Shermet Scholarship to study mechanical engineering at the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business.

Doug learned about a new business area at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Despite his technical background, he believed that a career in consulting would provide him with numerous opportunities to learn more, improve his problem-solving skills, and broaden his worldview.

From Doug’s own words, being a a CEO has given him a newfound appreciation for his work. ‘Every day, to the very best of your ability, perform the tasks that are currently in front of you”. This is Doug’s advice to young CEOs
