A New Leader at the Helm: Shelton Haynes Takes Over Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation
The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) recently welcomed Shelton Haynes as their new President and CEO. With over 20 years of experience in the public and private sector, Haynes has a well-deserved reputation for being a results-driven leader.
Rolston Haynes was born and raised in Manhattan and attended the City University of New York. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Program. Haynes has held numerous positions within the public and private sectors, including being a senior advisor at the NYC Department of Transportation, a special advisor to the chairman at the MTA, and an executive director of the NYCHA. He has also served in various positions in the private sector, including being a senior vice president at Macquarie Capital, a managing director at JP Morgan, and a partner at D.E. Shaw & Co.
Haynes is no stranger to Roosevelt Island, having been a resident for over 25 years. He has been involved in various initiatives on the Island, such as the Roosevelt Island Day Nursery and the Roosevelt Island Historical Society. He was also a member of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation Board of Directors from 2011 to 2020.
Haynes is excited to be taking on the role of President and CEO of RIOC. He is looking forward to working with the Island’s stakeholders to ensure that the Island remains a vibrant, vibrant community. He is also looking to improve the Island’s infrastructure and public safety, as well as to increase economic development opportunities.
Haynes has already set in motion many initiatives, such as the RIOC Smart City program, which is designed to increase connectivity and public safety on the Island. He is also working to create a memorial to honor those who served in the US Armed Forces.
In addition, he is working to bring more public transportation options to the Island, such as the ferry and enhanced bus service. He is also working with the New York City Department of Transportation to create a safe and efficient transportation system for residents and visitors alike.
