The Alliance Defending Freedom
Alliance Defending Freedom began when Christian leaders assembled the organization in 1994. Formerly known as Alliance Defense Fund, it was originally intended to protect the rights of Christians, the group has consistently stood with followers of many other religions to ensure their rights to worship and to live according to their beliefs. The alliance focuses on finding instances of persecution and calling out the entities involved. The goal is to guarantee that all citizens have the freedom of religion the Constitution dictates.
The organization focuses on issues that have the most effect on the lives of Christians. The Alliance Defending Freedom believes in the sanctity of life from conception to the natural end. It supports parental rights and the safety of children. The group seeks to stop schools from stripping parents of their control over the material exposed to their children. The Alliance Defending Freedom uses the media to draw attention to the concern of indoctrination and to demand a more balanced voice on all topics.
Freedom of speech also remains a cause supported by the Alliance Defending Freedom. Protecting this right is one of the many causes the organization advocates for before the Supreme Court. Maintaining constant oversight of the court’s rulings and upcoming cases gives ADF members a voice in the debate. The members learn about all court victories and future challenges. The organization has also contributed by representing groups, religious organizations, business owners, and private individuals in over a dozen cases.
